Without someone coordinating all of it, you become the project manager of an asset you purchased for leisure. You are selecting and relying on vendors you have never met, for work you may never see them perform, reviewing invoices you did not expect, and making decisions about systems you may not fully understand, fitting it all into a life that was already full before the boat arrived.

The problem compounds with distance. You are away, and things are happening, or not happening, without your knowledge. A small leak becomes a large repair. A skipped service interval voids a warranty. The vendor who promised to arrive Tuesday, isn't aboard until Thursday, and reconnects the hydraulic lines backwards. No one was there to hold them accountable, and when you arrive Friday for a weekend aboard, the steering is backwards.
